Nick stopped by Sharon's with Summer. Noah begged repeatedly to go visit with and call Phyllis, but Nick wasn't able to put a call through to his wife. Noah was worried about Phyllis, so Nick decided to visit her at the prison when he was unable to reach her by phone. Sharon volunteered to sit with Summer. At Noah's urging, Sharon snapped photos of Nick and the kids, using Nick's cell-phone camera, so Nick could later show the photos to Phyllis.
Phyllis tried to appeal to a jail guard to let her call home to check on Summer, but she was told she couldn't, since her phone privileges had been revoked after she'd used the phone when told not to. However, Michael and Nick, posing as an attorney, were allowed into Phyllis' cell. Nick assured Phyllis that Summer was fine. Phyllis and Nick managed to sneak a few kisses in while Michael kept a close watch on the guards.
Later, when Michael left Phyllis' cell to speak with the warden about Phyllis' harsh disciplinary actions, the warden was about to change his mind and reinstate Phyllis' privileges until he received a call from a guard. The angry warden led Michael back to Phyllis' cell and addressed Nick as Mr. Newman. An alert guard had recognized Nick from a photo in Phyllis' file. The warden ordered Michael and Nick to leave and warned Nick not to return to the prison. Phyllis became upset and begged the warden to allow her to see her family. As Nick and Michael were led away, Phyllis slumped against the bars and cried that she couldn't make it without the support of her family.
At home, while Sharon entertained Noah and Summer, Jack fielded calls from the press about Ji Min's sudden death. Jack praised Ji Min for having returned Jabot to its former glory. Reporters also hounded Nikki. David Chow worried about having spoken to the reporter before it was learned that Ji Min had died, but he expressed relief that the main problem had been averted. Nikki, however, reminded David that the story about Jack could be publicized, but David said it couldn't without corroboration, and Jack wouldn't admit to fraud.
At the club, Paul gave Katherine reports of background checks on prospective candidates for CEO of Jabot, a position Katherine hoped Jill would assume. Maggie told Katherine that tests had not yet determined exactly how Ji Min had died, although it looked as though he had had fallen.
At the Chancellor mansion, a grieving Jill phoned a reporter and informed him about Jack having used Ji Min as a pawn in his scheme to gain control of Jabot, which Jack had purchased and then sold to Katherine illegally. However, the reporter disappointed Jill when he informed her that he couldn't televise the story without proof. Jill said that Ji Min had possessed a covertly taped conversation between himself and Jack Abbott that would serve as proof, since Jack had readily admitted that he had owned Jabot, but sadly, Jill admitted, she didn't know who had the tape.
Katherine arrived at home and requested that the reporter leave. Jill confronted her mother, but Katherine denied knowing about Jack's involvement. Instead, Jill asked the reporter to speak to Victor Newman. After the reporter left, Jill vowed to take Jack down, but Katherine reminded her daughter that she'd be taking her mother down with Jack.
Jack approached Nikki and urged her to stick to the same story he'd tell whenever approached by the press. However, Katherine later called Jack and told him about the tape Jill had mentioned. Jill went to Victor and demanded that he give her the tape that he had pressured Ji Min into recording when he had coerced Jack into admitting that he'd owned Jabot. Later, when the reporter confronted Jack, he accused the reporter of using malicious rumors in place of fact.
Katherine went to Nikki's office and reported that Jill was on the rampage over Jack's fraudulent business dealings and was determined to publicize them. Both Nikki and Katherine wondered if Victor was in possession of the audiotape of Jack and Ji Min. Nikki explained that Victor wouldn't use the tape unless he had something to gain, and Katherine reminded Nikki that he had been flaunting her relationship with David Chow in front of Victor's face. Nikki and Katherine then confronted Victor about the tape. An angry Victor insisted that he didn't know anything about the tape, and he asked Katherine why Jill had allowed herself to be taken in by Ji Min in the first place.
Jill confronted Jack about the tape, telling Jack that Ji Min wouldn't have lied about the tape after confessing everything else to her. Jill became livid when Jack told her that her crusade to prove her allegations could hurt Ji Min's family. Jill accused Jack of destroying Ji Min's career and reputation. Jill warned Jack that sooner or later, the truth would be revealed.
Later, when Jill returned home, Katherine told Jill that her crusade against Jack could be hurting her son, if arrests were made. She begged Jill to let the matter rest. A bit later, Jill was crushed when the reporter stopped by and told her that without proof, Jill's story about Jack and Ji Min was dead. Jill sarcastically told her mother to celebrate, since Ji Min's story would never be told. Jill pulled away when Katherine reached out to hold her hand.
As the evening settled, everyone seemed to believe that the threat had blown over. Nikki remarked to David that she was surprised that Victor had been so reasonable when she had spoken with him. At the Abbotts', Jack loosened his tie, poured himself a drink, and settled down on the sofa next to Sharon. Sharon told Jack that she had enjoyed taking care of Summer. As Jack relaxed with his feet propped up on the coffee table, he assured Sharon that the buzz about Ji Min would soon die down.
Noah took Summer into the living room and asked Jack to take pictures of the baby. While Jack took photos of Sharon and Summer, Noah turned on the TV. Jack looked stunned when a reporter's voice announced that a recording of Jack Abbott and Ji Min Kim had been dropped off at the TV station. Back at the Chancellor mansion, Jill, Katherine, and Cane watched and listened as the voices of Jack and Ji Min spelled out the ugly truth when Jack admitted that he owned House of Kim, Jabot, and even Ji Min. Nikki stifled a gasp with her hand as she and David listened to the audiotape on a TV in her office.
Victor, alone in his office, looked quite pleased with himself as he, too, listened to the tape as it was broadcast over the airwaves.
Jack suspected Ji Min had sold the tape to Victor. Victoria realized that Nikki had known about Jack's ownership of Jabot for months and was hurt by her mother's ongoing deceit. Katherine questioned whether Jill had engineered the release of the tape, while Cane tried to play peacemaker.
Nick stopped by to pick up Summer, and Sharon asked him to take Noah for the night. Nick told Sharon that if she needed anything, she could call him. Jack took notice. Jack and Nick exchanged some harsh words until Sharon reminded them of Noah's presence. Noah asked if Jack had done something bad. Nick covered for Jack, saying politicians always got a bad rap. Jack made Nikki realize that Victor was behind the release of the tape.
When Nikki later confronted Victor, he danced around admitting he had released the tape to the press. Hurt, Nikki reminded him that it was their anniversary, but Victor coldly said he hadn't forgotten. Victoria confronted Victor, as well, about releasing the tape, and Victor lost his cool.
Katherine suggested to Michael, Nikki, and Victoria that they hold a press conference to release a statement that they believed the tape had been fabricated. Michael told Katherine that she had to tell the truth -- just not the whole truth.
Sharon told Jack that he should still tell the truth and asked him to do it for Noah. Nick met with Sharon and told her that until the scandal blew over, he didn't want Noah living with Jack. Sharon, however, refused.
Jack told Nikki and Katherine that they all needed to be on the same page with the press. He called a press conference and told everyone that the recording was a fake.
Amber vented to Daniel about everyone always thinking the worst of her. Kevin was upset about a phone call from Jana. She wanted him to stay away from her, as she felt she'd ruin his life. Amber told Kevin that there wasn't much hot water for a shower, so Daniel took his shirt off and ran into the bathroom before Kevin. Just then, the doorbell rang. Kevin left the room, and Amber answered the door just as Daniel returned from the bathroom. Lily was at the door with a surprised look on her face.
Adrian was waiting for Colleen to finish up at work when Heather walked in. When he saw her, he rushed Colleen out. After arguing with Jack, Sharon jumped on the elevator, and Brad was there. He asked what was wrong, and she told him she needed some fresh air. Jack then called her cell phone, but she didn't answer. Brad asked her why the elevators never broke down when a person wanted them to.
Lily said she could return later, but Amber and Daniel told her it was not what it looked like and to stay. Amber left the room so Lily and Daniel could talk. Lily wanted Daniel to sign their divorce papers. She told him that once she turned the papers in, they were done. Lily told Daniel that he was not the only one hurt by all of it. They signed the divorce papers. Lily thanked him and turned to leave. He stopped her and told her that signing the papers didn't mean that he didn't love her. Lily then quickly left.
Kevin and Amber walked out and tried to encourage Daniel. Kevin told Daniel that at least Lily was talking to Daniel, but Jana wouldn't even speak to him. Amber said they were depressing, and they should party. Daniel and Amber discussed giving up relationships and made a pact to not have any. Kevin just laughed at them.
Adrian helped Colleen unpack her things. He told her to finish unpacking later and that he wanted to give her a tour of their bed. J.T. saw Cane at the coffee shop and offered his condolences over Cane's family's loss. He told Cane about Victoria's pregnancy cravings. Cane explained that someone was stealing from the Clear Springs construction site.
Brad and Sharon went to the club and asked Gina for a private table. Sharon told Brad about the recording that had been made public in which Jack had admitted to owning Jabot. Adrian and Colleen were in bed when someone knocked on the door. Lily shouted that she knew Colleen was home and that she needed to talk to her. Brad told Sharon that it was painful for him to hear Sharon choosing her words so carefully when talking about Jack's problems.
Amber told Daniel why she had been in Ji Min's room the night he'd died. She told him that Ji Min had had their missing money. She explained to him that the $100 bill she'd gotten from Ji Min had matched the serial numbers of the missing money. She then talked about how horrible it had been to find Ji Min's body but that nobody felt sorry for her because they automatically assumed she was guilty of something. Daniel told her that she should have told him and Kevin about the money, then she wouldn't have been on her own and wouldn't have found Ji Min's body.
Daniel told Amber that they should rent Ji Min's room so they could search it more to see if the money was still there. Amber told him that Maggie hadn't seemed to take her seriously when she'd told the police that she thought Ji Min had had the money. Amber got on the phone to rent the room.
Lily told Colleen about finding Daniel and Amber together. She said that she knew Daniel was bad for her, but when she had seen them together, she had just wanted to hit Amber. Colleen said it was okay for Lily to be mad, she was allowed to be mad, and she couldn't just stop her feelings right away. Colleen told her that things would get better, and she'd eventually find someone else. She told Lily about what a mess she had been after she and J.T. had broken up, and she hadn't thought she'd find someone else.
J.T. offered to help Cane figure out who was stealing copper from the construction site. Jack rushed past Gina to talk to Sharon. He sat down at the table with Sharon and Brad and thanked them for waiting for him.
Lily, Colleen, and Adrian played Trivial Pursuit. Adrian knew the answers, and Lily asked him if he thought it was unhealthy to know so many useless bits of information. There was a knock at the door. Colleen answered it, and it was Kevin. Kevin wanted to know if they were having a housewarming party. Colleen decided she wanted to have one, and Adrian agreed. J.T. explained to Cain how he'd go undercover as a new hire on the construction site. Sharon received a phone call about Noah and left the table.
When they were alone, Jack told Brad that he didn't want Brad to have breakfast, lunch, dinner, or anything else alone with Jack's wife again. He told Brad that he'd tarnished Sharon's reputation by his court testimony, and Jack wouldn't let him do that again. Brad then remarked to Jack how he was having Sharon lie about the Jabot situation. Daniel and Amber arrived at Ji Min's room. In the hall outside, Carson showed up and told Amber that he'd been looking all over for her.
Amber and Daniel went downstairs so Carson didn't realize they were going to stay in Ji Min's room. He followed them down to the bar, but Amber explained that she was taking Daniel out because he'd just ended his marriage. As Kevin looked at Adrian's computer, Colleen suggested to Lily that they have a divorce party. Carson didn't leave the bar, so Amber told Daniel that he'd have to go up to the room by himself, and she'd hang out there with Carson for just a little bit.
Daniel acted like he had gotten a phone call and left the bar. Just then, Cane walked in. Amber told Carson that he stalked her while she was with Daniel, but once she was alone, he ignored her. He then scooted over next to her and said he'd make Cane jealous. He touched Amber's face, and Cane stared with interest.
At the coffee shop, Heather walked in and saw Adrian. He acted like he didn't remember her, and she told him her name. She said that she was Heather Stevens and that she had been Macy Whitcomb's roommate. He told her that he was sorry. She said it had been awful, but she was sure it had been worse for him, since he had found her body. He asked her what drew her to Genoa City, and she explained that she was working for the D.A.'s office.
Heather told Adrian that Macy had always talked about him and about how much she had liked his course. Heather told Adrian it had been nice to meet him, and she left. Colleen and Lily went to the club, looking for Neil to ask him if they could use Indigo for Lily's divorce party. Lily saw Cane and talked about hitting on him.
Colleen encouraged Lily to go over and flirt with Cane. She talked to Cane and told him that she'd just gotten divorced. He asked her if she was there with anyone. She said no then nervously invited him to her divorce party. Cane said it sounded like fun and that he'd be there. Colleen and Lily were giggling about Cane when he waved back at them on his way out.
Carson told Amber that Cane had only been flirting with Lily to make Amber jealous. She said she needed to get some air and excused herself. Carson wanted her to stay, so she told him to order her another drink, and she'd be back. In the lobby, Amber called Daniel, who was in Ji Min's room, looking for clues. He said he couldn't find anything, and Amber told him that she wanted to look herself. She told Daniel to go down to the bar and stay with Carson to make sure he didn't go up to the room. Amber went to the room, and Daniel headed back down to the bar.
During dinner with Sharon and Brad, Jack received a phone call and had to leave. Sharon told him she'd see him back at home. Brad asked Sharon what Noah was going to do when he found out that Jack and Sharon were both lying to him. Sharon told him that he had promised not to dump on her. He said that he was not dumping on her; he was just asking her how she wanted to raise her son.
Jack told Ben on the phone that he was not going to hire a lawyer because it would make everyone think that he needed one. He told Ben to tell the ethics committee that Jack had nothing to hide, there'd been no indictment, and if there was a formal hearing, he was fully willing and eager to clear his name. Amber rested on Ji Min's bed and noticed the air vent on the wall. She unscrewed it, opened it, and found the money that Ji Min had stolen from her.
Noah asked Jack why somebody had made a fake tape to hurt him. Jack lied to Noah and said that being a senator was tough, and some people would go out of their way to jeopardize their careers. Sharon told Jack that she was disappointed that Jack had felt the need to lie to Noah. She said that when she'd married him, she'd thought that side of Jack was behind him.
Jack's father, John, appeared, and he agreed with Sharon. John told Jack that he'd thought Jack had matured, but he was saddened to see that Jack was continuing his deceitful ways. Jack asked John what he was supposed to do under the circumstances. John said that he could have told the truth.
Sharon and Noah had smoothies at the coffeehouse. When a reporter approached them and asked Sharon how she felt about Jack's fraud, Sharon said that she supported her husband. Noah got angry. He said that Jack never lied and to leave his mother alone.
Sharon went to Jack and told him that she was disappointed that she had to lie to Noah. Jack tried to convince her by saying that if he had told the truth, all the good things he was doing as senator wouldn't be happening. Sharon said that she thought Jack was thinking more about himself than about other people.
Nikki was disappointed when she read the message boards on the computer. They were all about Jack's fraud. David wondered if Nikki really thought that Victor had released the tape. Nikki said that she'd known Victor for many years and could tell when Victor wasn't telling the truth. David gave Nikki a package. It was a case with the key to his hotel room.
Nikki went to the Athletic Club and saw Victor. She asked him why he was working out so hard, questioning if he wasn't too busy destroying people's lives. As they began to argue, Victoria interrupted and said that the baby could tell when people were fighting. Nikki asked Victoria how she was. Victoria asked Nikki how things were with Victor. Nikki said that Victor was nothing like J.T. Besides, she had someone that respected her. She told Victoria about David's gift to her.
Nikki decided to go to David's room. As they toasted with Champagne, David told her about the first time they'd met. They soon ended up making love. Nikki was surprised that they had ended up together, considering they had initially been on opposite sides. David was happy that things had worked out that way. Later, Nikki thought about her life with Victor. She remembered the first time they'd made love, when she'd found out she had been pregnant. Then she remembered how it had felt when Victor had undermined her desire to run NVP. She scrolled through her phone to call Victor. When he answered, she hung up.
Victoria tried to talk to Victor about his marriage. Victor said that he was too busy to talk. Victoria was upset that Victor was more interested in Jack's demise than in his own marriage. She said that Victor was going to lose his wife. Victor said that Nikki was going to lose him.
Carson could tell that Amber wasn't returning. He got sick of Daniel trying to stall him, and he left.
Amber had issues trying to decide whether or not to keep the money. Her bad side tried to convince her that she could use the money to achieve fame, to make a demo tape, or even to buy hot clothes for herself. Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. Amber considered telling Daniel, but his phone rang. Michael wanted them to meet to discuss their situation. As they left, Jeffrey checked into the room next door.
Michael told Amber, Kevin, and Daniel that if they did not get the money, they were going to jail. Gloria suggested giving Amber the money. Everyone was shocked and thankful, until Amber found out that Gloria was only offering a loan. Amber knew that Gloria was only offering her the money to help Kevin stay out of jail.
Kevin and Daniel tried to talk Amber into taking the loan from Gloria. Amber said that she'd never had anyone on her side and that she needed to take care of herself.
When Amber returned to the hotel room, Carson was in the room, waiting for her. Amber tried to get Carson out of there. When Carson finally left, he saw Jeffrey outside. He made a joke about getting kicked out.
Gloria went to the hotel room. She told Amber that she had decided to give Amber the money, no strings attached. When Gloria left, Amber was thrilled because she could keep the money and stay out of jail.
Nikki canceled her meeting with Nick, Victoria, and Victor to spend the day in bed with David. Meanwhile, Nick and Victoria decided it was time for an intervention with their parents. Nick tried to convince Victor, while Victoria worked on Nikki. Victor agreed to have a family meeting; Nikki, on the other hand, decided to stay with David.
Victoria arrived at the Genoa City Athletic Club and informed Nick that Nikki wouldn't be joining them. Victor arrived and realized the same thing. Nick and Victoria begged Victor to stay and to tell his side of things, and Victor agreed, coldly. Victoria and Nick did their best to reason with Victor, but in the end, it did no good.
While planning Lily's party, Colleen noticed Cane checking out Lily. Lily, Colleen, and Adrian ran into Heather at the coffeehouse, and Adrian introduced them.
Amber's evil alter ego convinced her to keep the money for herself. She devised a plan to fool the authorities into believing the money had been burned. Amber bought a bag of shredded currency and went to work setting it on fire and mixing the ashes with the real hundred dollar bills, her alter ego talking over her shoulder the entire time. Amber placed the currency with the burned hundreds in the air vent of Ji Min's room with a lit cigarette and waited for the fire alarm to go off.
Jill got caught in the steam room as the fire alarm was going off. Amber heard her cry for help and managed to save her.
