Elizabeth, who has played the wealthy Lucinda Walsh since the mid-1980s, is a graduate of Radcliffe College where she graduated cum laude. After college she continued her education at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London where she became the first American to receive the school's silver medal. Elizabeth has studied with Harold Clurman and Lee Strasberg in New York and has studied singing all her life.
Elizabeth lives in New York City. Elizabeth sits on the boards of several international humanitarian charities, including the Women's Commission on Refugee Women and Children. Her hobbies include writing and traveling. She has one son, Jeremy Bennett.
