Daytime favorite Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson, The Young and the Restless; ex-Annie Lavery, All My Children) is one lucky lady! The beloved actress was treated to a very special baby shower this past Friday, hosted by her cast mates Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe Mitchell, Y&R; ex-Maggie Stone/Frankie Stone, AMC; ex-Margaux Dawson, General Hospital), Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher, Y&R; ex-Leo Stark, Days of our Lives), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers, Y&R; ex-Nina Reeves, GH), and Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman, Y&R).
"I'm so lucky to have a job I love so much, playing a role I love so much, with THESE PEOPLE THAT I LOVE SO MUCH!! Beyond grateful," Egan posted on Instagram. "Thank you @e.c.hendrickson, @gregrikaart, @therealstafford, & @joshuamorrowyr for throwing me my work baby shower. I'm spoiled and I know it!!!"
As can be seen in the photos shared by Egan in her post, several of the actress' other soap opera colleagues came to celebrate her special day. Additional guests included Brytni Sarpy (Elena Dawson, Y&R; ex-Valerie Spencer, GH), Bryton James (Devon Hamilton, Y&R), Camryn Grimes (Mariah Copeland, Y&R), Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman, Y&R), Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair, Y&R), Kate Linder (Esther Valentine, Y&R), and Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden Barnes, GH; ex-Greenlee Smythe, AMC; ex-Michelle Bauer, Guiding Light).
"Thank you guys, and thanks to all you amazingly supportive fans who watch the show, and have sent your love my way during this time," Egan added to her Instagram post. "It will forever mean the world to me, @katrosar, and this new little man."
Egan made the announcement in April that she and her husband, Matt Katrosar, were expecting a baby boy this August after a long and emotional journey that included two miscarriages. At the time, the actress shared that she and Katrosar were "overwhelmed and soooo touched by all the love we've gotten since sharing about Baby K on the way."
As Soap Central previously reported, Y&R chose an unexpected way to write Egan off the canvas for her maternity leave: Chelsea was sprung from the mental institution to which she had been admitted so that she could help her mother, Anita (Catherine Bach), recover from a hip injury. But even though Chelsea will be off helping Anita, she won't be completely absent during Egan's maternity break; viewers will continue to see the character throughout the summer as she makes video calls to her friends and loved ones in Genoa City.
Egan has been playing the role of Y&R's Chelsea since 2011. She previously played the role of All My Children's Annie McDermott from 2006 to 2011, when AMC ended its ABC run. She has earned three Daytime Emmy nominations in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for her work on AMC (in 2009, 2011, and 2012) and three Daytime Emmy nominations in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for her work on Y&R (in 2013, 2014, and 2021).
