CBS is king when it comes to promoting its shows via crossover events, and the next one involves its soap operas, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. This week will feature B&B's Wyatt (Darin Brooks) and Flo (Katrina Bowden) dropping into Genoa City to visit Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), who moved to Y&R in November. Meanwhile, the week of January 11 will see Y&R character Summer Newman (Hunter King) travel to B&B's Los Angeles in an effort to dig up some dirt on Sally, who has become her new nemesis.
Reveals Y&R head writer Josh Griffith to Soap Opera Digest, "When we thought about bringing Sally to Genoa City, and we found out that she left L.A. under a cloud of trouble, it seemed like it was a natural that we would try to work out a way so we could cross the shows and cross that story, have people from our show looking into her background in trying to get dirt on her."
Funny enough, Soap Central recently spoke with Sally's portrayer, Courtney Hope, who told us that she could totally see Summer making a visit to B&B.
"I definitely think Theo [Tyler Johnson] could create some crazy drama in L.A., just given his character. He could bring in a little bit of conniving and plotting, which could be quite interesting. But also, Summer for sure!" she enthused. "With Summer, I think it's more about her job. It's the same with someone like Chloe [Elizabeth Hendrickson], who has her own fashion line. I'm thinking about what the characters are doing and how they could connect at B&B, and that's why I also said Theo, as well, because he loves social media, and we were always talking about that at Forrester Creations. But there are a lot of options. And I love the fact that crossovers are possible and that they happen. It's fun!"
According to TV Insider, fans can look forward to the Y&R/B&B crossover going beyond just next week, so viewers should "keep an eye peeled on more unexpected appearances."
The last time B&B and Y&R crossed over was in 2017, when patriarch Eric Forrester (John McCook) made a visit to Genoa City to help out his former lover, Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman).
