Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful were stunned when Courtney Hope announced her exit from the show in August. The news was equally surprising when just a matter of days later, it was revealed that Hope would be joining the cast of B&B's sister soap, The Young and the Restless. Would it be too much, many fans asked, for Y&R to work Hope's B&B role into the canvas?
Well, ask and you shall receive.
The Young and the Restless has confirmed that Hope's Sally Spectra will, in fact, be settling down in Genoa City with the hope of making a fresh start. That is presumably a euphemism for Sally wanting to forget that she crafted a whopper of a lie about having an incurable disease, all to land a man.
"We really enjoyed Courtney's work on The Bold and the Beautiful," said Josh Griffith, Y&R's co-executive producer and head writer. "Sally Spectra is a colorful character that fans love watching. We are excited for her to stir things up in Genoa City and join our talented cast."
This will not be the first time that a character from The Bold and the Beautiful has crossed over to The Young and the Restless, but it will be the first time in several years that the two soaps have had a substantial crossover story.
It appears that Hope's initial storyline will involve another character that has made the Y&R/B&B crossover in the past: Lauren Fenmore. According to CBS, Sally has "some surprising connections to key players, including Lauren Fenmore."
Hope made her debut as B&B's Sally Spectra -- the original Sally Spectra's (Darlene Conley) grandniece -- back in January of 2017. Hope's Sally will, um, elect to make her first appearance on Y&R on Tuesday, November 3.
