Lifetime's "Ripped From the Headlines" film series has proven popular with viewers, and the drama-filled network is continuing its true-story-based movies into next year. Three more titles have been added to the slate, including You Can't Take My Daughter, starring former The Young and the Restless actress Lyndsy Fonseca (ex-Colleen Carlton).
The film -- which is being is executive produced by Linda Berman of Lincoln Square Productions, Rocky Lang of Harbor Lights, and Big Dreams Entertainment -- follows Fonseca as Amy Thompson, a vibrant law student in Charlotte who is attacked and raped by Demetri (Hunter Burke), a friend of a friend she met once.
As Deadline reports, after discovering that she is pregnant from the rape, Amy makes the difficult decision to keep her baby, despite the fact that Demetri continues to stalk and harass her as she waits for the long-delayed trial. She gives birth to a beautiful little girl and decides to flee him and start over in Atlanta. Six years later, Demetri finds her and, to her horror, sues her for custody of her daughter. Using her own legal and investigative skills, Amy fights back.
Lifetime's You Can't Take My Daughter, which is slated to premiere on Saturday, February 15, also stars Kirstie Alley as Amy's mother, Suzanne.
Lyndsy Fonseca began her career as Y&R's Colleen, which she played from 2001 to 2005 before going on to find success in shows like How I Met Your Mother, Big Love, and Desperate Housewives.
