Milk and cookies are so last year. The popular thing to have for Christmas Eve in 2016 is The Young and the Restless' Judith Chapman (Gloria Fisher) -- and lucky for CBS Daytime, they've got her!
The scheming matriarch's portrayer is set to make a return to Genoa City on the fictional town's night before Christmas (airing Wednesday, December 21), and while the real reason for Gloria's return is being kept under wraps, a show rep tells TV Insider that she'll definitely be causing trouble for her sons, Michael [Christian LeBlanc) and Kevin [Greg Rikaart].
"Gloria wants to be reunited with her sons. She has always been led by her heart. That's why she followed Jeffrey to the ends of the Earth, but it's time to be with her boys, especially because it's Christmas," Chapman says of her return, adding, "And, of course, Gloria will have the perfect dramatic entrance. She just shows up. Unannounced. Uninvited. Maybe unwelcome."
But a holiday return may be just the beginning. Rumor has it Y&R's new head writer, Sally Sussman, is a major fan of Gloria and could therefore utilize the character much more than she has been used in quite a while.
"This is all such a nice surprise," Chapman says of being asked to return. "I had truly made peace with the idea that I would never be called back to the show."
