When it comes to villains and villainesses on soap operas, there usually are only a few ways to go - a character goes through a really tough time and comes out as one of the good guys or the character goes to jail or sometimes a the character ends up the victim of a major whodunit.

That total put the soap in the Guinness Book of World Records under the category of "Most Emmy Nominations." Seven of those nominations turned into Emmys wins. That mark, however, was not a record. The mark had been set the previous year by

Another World veteran Diego Serrano (ex-Tomas Rivera) has joined the cast of The Young and the Restless. It had been believed that Serrano would play the role of a character named "Dante." That character has since been renamed to Diego -- and given a last name -- Guittierez.

When Rick Hearst's (Matt Clark) character on The Young and the Restless was killed off in May, it looked like the end of the actor's run on the show. The exit was storyline dictated - and it was a move that the writers and Hearst's fellow castmates weren't necessarily looking forward to.

There are changes atop the behind-the-scenes staff at The Young and the Restless. On December 4th, CBS announced that Emmy award-winning producer David Shaughnessy had been named Y&R's new executive producer.
