Kurt McKinney joined Guiding Light, the CBS daytime drama, on July 15, 1994 as the hard-edged drifter Matt Reardon. Against a backdrop of disapproval, he fell hard for an older woman, Vanessa Chamberlain, whom he married. Still married today, the couple is preparing for some difficult times ahead.
McKinney is known to daytime audiences for his three-year stint as Ned Ashton on General Hospital. Recently, McKinney appeared alongside Marl Louise Parker and Peter Gallagher in the Hallmark Hall of Fame film, Cupid and Kate. Additional television credits include Days of our Lives, the lead role in the CBS movie-of-the-week Sworn to Vengeance with Robert Conrad and guest-starring appearances on Alf, Roomies, Highway To Heaven and Gimme A Break.
McKinney, who has a black belt in karate, also starred in the feature film No Retreat, No Surrender with Jean-Claude Van Damme, and in the martial arts film Sworn to Justice.
The brown-haired, blue-eyed actor, his wife Maronda, their son, Cole Madsen, and their daughter, Madison Taylor, live in Westchester County, NY, with their dog Maggie. The actor, who was born and raised in Louisville, KY, enjoys tennis, horseback riding, water skiing and swimming.
