Daniel Kennedy is a newcomer to the world of daytime TV. He was born on October 24, 1983 in Tucson, AZ where he was raised with his younger sister, Marissa. Interestingly enough, Daniel's mother and father (a pharmacist) met at college, while watching "All My Children" with other students, during lunch breaks.
Some of Daniel's own earliest memories of watching "All My Children" with his mother include Janet-From-Another-Planet, and Natalie down the well. He loved crazy Janet, and thought that "All My Children" was the coolest show on TV.
Daniel's interest in acting began during his childhood when he watched the PBS series "Masterpiece Theater", and fell in love with British drama. He also developed a love of opera by watching filmed performances, also on PBS.
After winning a trip to New York City, as Arizona's state high school representative in an annual national Shakespeare competition, Daniel had the unexpected opportunity to tour Juilliard. After being accepted, he became the first student in the school's history to major in both drama and opera.
He brought his, and his mother's, shared love of "All My Children" full circle when he landed an audition for the role of Peter Cortlandt, in the spring of 2008. In preparation for this audition, he asked his casual acquaintance, Ricky Paull Goldin (who lived nearby, and who had just been cast as Jake the month before), to give him some tips, and an honest critique of his acting. Those tips apparently paid off because after auditioning with Brianne Moncrief (Colby Chandler), Daniel was offered the role. He claims to have been the nerdiest of the other soap-hunk contenders, but believes that he may have proven his deeper understanding of the character after his audition with Brianne ended. When AMC casting director Judy Wilson asked Daniel and Brianne to stand next to each other, Daniel seized the opportunity to surreptitiously sniff Brianne's hair, just as Petey Cortlandt might do while standing next to Colby.
Daniel Kennedy equates receiving the news that he'd been cast as Peter Cortlandt with having an out-of-body experience, and characterizes his early scenes with both David Canary (Adam Chandler) and James Mitchell (Palmer Cortlandt) together as being surreal.
