In celebration of 30 years as the number one rated network in daytime, CBS held a nationwide open casting call to fill two guest starring roles on its popular daytime dramas, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. And it looks like a Chicago resident and a Rochester, New York, resident are the lucky winners.
Auditions were held in thirteen markets nationwide, with thousands turning out for the opportunity to screen test for a one-episode role. Out of the masses, CBS chose 22-year-old Chicago resident Eric SJ Blain to appear on Y&R.
"He is an actor who performs regularly in community theater," states an official press release. "A lifelong fan of daytime dramas, he leads his church choir and plays a number of instruments, including the drums, piano, guitar, saxophone and trumpet. Recently, Blain was accepted to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, which he plans to attend in the fall."
Meanwhile, Rochester resident Deepa Patel will be appearing on B&B.
"She works as a quality specialist in behavioral health case management in her native Rochester, NY. Previously, she lived for five years in London, where she studied vocal performance and earned a master's degree in music psychotherapy," CBS reports. "Recently, Patel, 31, rediscovered her love of performing when she enrolled in a local acting class. Her upcoming role on The Bold and the Beautiful will mark the first part she's played since she appeared onstage in a high school play."
Both winners will be flown to Los Angeles to film their parts for the CBS Daytime shows. Their airdates will be announced at a later date.
