Fans of former One Life to Live star Erika Slezak (ex-Viki Lord) were thrilled when the multiple Emmy-winning actress began 2018 with a guest-starring role on The Resident. And it looks like 2019 is off to a fabulous start for fans of Slezak, as well: she's starring in a new film called Guest Artist.
Based on the 2006 play of the same name by Hollywood actor Jeff Daniels, the somewhat autobiographical film tells a funny and poignant story about a young man (Daniels) coming face to face with his hero and being forced to explore the tangled relationship between the dreams of youth and the wisdom of age.
Guest Star was chosen to make its world premiere at the 2019 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, which began January 30 and runs until Saturday, February 9. Slezak plays the role of Helen alongside actors like Thomas Macias, Richard McWilliams, McKara Bechler, Dan Johnson, Lynch Travis, and Ruth Crawford.
The actress took on OLTL's Victoria Lord in 1971 and played the role until the ABC series went off the air in 2013. She won six Daytime Emmy Awards for her work as the Llanview matriarch and still holds the record for most wins by an actress.
In Slezak's most recent annual holiday letter, she admitted that she wished she would have worked more during 2018 but is enjoying her free time, nonetheless. She shares that she's been spending time learning the piano.
"When I was a child, my sister and brother and I had to take piano lessons and had to practice everyday and boy did I dislike that!" she writes. "Now, I so wish that I had kept up with it. I am so in awe of people who play brilliantly. I am currently working on a fifth grade book, which is embarrassing, but actually kind of difficult."
