Jimmy Lee Holt, as known as Eric Quartermaine, was raised in Indiana by his mother Beatrice LeSeur. Jimmy Lee and his mother arrived in Port Charles when he was already an adult and hoped to gain their share of the Quartermaine fortune since Jimmy was Edward's illegitimate son. Jimmy Lee teamed up with Crane Tolliver, the first husband of Edward's current wife Lila. Together they planned to access Edward's money by proving that Edward's family with Lila was illegitimate because Lila and Crane had never officially divorced.
Around the same time, Jimmy Lee's half-brother Alan was expecting a child with his mistress Susan Moore. Susan worked with Crane with Jimmy Lee against the Quartermaine family until she was murdered by Crane. Jimmy Lee ended up with the proof that Lila and Crane had never divorced after Crane was taken into police custody. The papers were destroyed in a fire before Jimmy Lee had a chance to use them.
Jimmy Lee's next scheme involved Susan's cousin Heather Grant and Susan's infant son Jason. They planned to adopt Alan's son and inherit the child's trust fund. However, Alan's wife Monica decided to raise Jason as her own child and Jimmy Lee was again shut out of the Quartermaine fortune. Later, Jimmy Lee followed a false business tip and invested all of the ELQ stock. The family was bankrupted and forced to move into the rooms above Kelly's Diner. The company and family eventually regained their fortune but left Jimmy out of the financial windfall.
During Jimmy Lee's time in Port Charles, he fell in love with Edward's distant cousin Celia Quartermaine. Jimmy Lee wooed Celia but she chose Grant Putnam over him. He was devastated and entered into a relationship with Lorena Sharpe but his heart remained with Celia. Eventually Celia's marriage to Grant ended and she and Jimmy Lee married. The couple was happy for a brief period of time before the reality of being destitute was too much for Celia and she ended their marriage.
Jimmy Lee found love again with country store owner Charity Gatlin. They married and moved out of Port Charles to Pautuck, New York. Together they run the country store. Although Jimmy Lee had given up his schemes against the Quartermaine family, Edward never forgave him for the trouble he caused the family.
Upon Edward's death in 2012, Jimmy Lee was excluded from any inheritance.
