It is the end of the serial-killing, hand-chopping-off road for Ryan Chamberlain. The character was killed off last month, and it looks like Ryan is really, really dead this time.
How does Emmy-nominated fan favorite Jon Lindstrom feel about this chapter of his time on General Hospital coming to a close?
"It's not my show. If the powers-that-be figured that there's a character that has to be taken off the canvas in order to move other characters forward, that's the way it is," Lindstrom recently told Soap Opera Digest.
Lindstrom did, however, offer a cheeky follow-up to his more measured response to Ryan's death. "After 25 years of having been thought dead, 25 years from now, they could just bring him back!"
Lindstrom did admit that it was "sad to say goodbye to such a terrific, colorful character" but shared that part of being an actor involves having to let go of roles.
Fans should not worry that Lindstrom himself might be let go from General Hospital. The Emmy-nominated actor will continue to play Kevin Collins.
Lindstrom shared that he loved that his work as Ryan allowed him to share scenes with actresses Maura West (Ava Jerome) and Alley Mills (Heather Webber). Lindstrom called Mills "absolutely wonderful to work with" and enjoyed that Mills liked to rehearse to "find the beats and the truth in scenes." Of West, who he referred to as a "terrific actor," Lindstrom said he reveled at the opportunity to work with her again. They both appeared on CBS' As the World Turns.
Lindstrom made his first appearance as Ryan Chamberlain on June 20, 1992.
