Chloe Lanier slayed in her role as General Hospital troublemaker Nelle Benson, and now the Emmy-winning actress is trying her hand at producing. She has announced that she and her partner, Kevan McClellan, are helming a new comedy film that stars many talented daytime actors, including Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase, GH) and Brytni Sarpy (Elena Dawson, The Young and the Restless; ex-Valerie Spencer, GH).
Called The Reveal, the movie centers around a young couple (Lanier and McClellan) who attend their hippie friends' gender reveal party only to realize their own issues and conflicts within their relationship. But it's not just the comedic storyline that makes this project special. Lanier and McClellan are counting on fans to help make their "bizarre little film full of heart" a reality.
"Think about all of those hilarious movies you know and love -- The 40-Year Old Virgin, Bridesmaids, Knocked Up, Wedding Crashers. We want to make a hilarious, irreverent comedy that an audience can relate to...YOU!!!!" the couple writes on the film's Indiegogo fundraising page. "WE NEED YOU!"
To help raise funds for The Reveal, Lanier and McClellan are offering up a lot of cool items and experiences in exchange for financial pledges to the film. The money will help purchase set pieces and props, pay the crew, acquire the necessary equipment to film and edit the movie, and cover film festival submissions (they plan to shoot in August in order to submit The Reveal to independent film festivals like Sundance and South by Southwest).
"We have so many fun perks!" the couple shares. "Want a link to the film? A signed photo of Chloe or Brytni? Tickets to the premiere? Or maybe you want to be a producer? A lunch date even? We have all that and more for your generous donations! Also we'll just love you forever."
Lanier made her GH debut as a young Patricia Spencer in flashback scenes that aired in 2015. The actress wowed in her performances, which sparked the show's executives to bring her back the following year in the newly created role of Nelle. After just two years of playing the love-to-hate character, Lanier decided to exit GH so she could focus on primetime and film projects -- The Reveal now being one of them. For more information on Lanier's film and to learn how you can help the actress make her film dreams a reality, check out the movie's Indiegogo page here.
