Days of our Lives alum Blake Berris (ex-Nick Fallon) is temporarily filling in for General Hospital's Bradford Anderson in the role of Spinelli, and the casting switcheroo is getting quite a few people talking. In fact, "Spinelli" was a trending topic on Twitter during Monday's episode of the ABC soap opera.
Several fans sent Berris screenshots of his GH character in their lists of trending topics, some of which the actor re-tweeted with comments like, "v cool" and "love it!"

Even Soap Central got in on the Twitter fun, posting a tweet that ABC needed to bring back a fan-favorite voiceover feature.

Berris live tweeted during his debut episode on Friday, January 13, and has since gotten quite a few compliments for his portrayal of Spinelli. As previously reported, the casting arrangement is temporary, as original portrayer Anderson was unable to reprise the character he originated in 2006 due landing a guest starring role on Homeland.
"It's a show that I've watched and loved since it began, so to be working on it is pretty exciting," Anderson wrote when his recast was announced in late December. "The unfortunate part is that it conflicted with some episodes of GH that I was supposed to do, and I had to back out of those episodes. To make it even worse, it all happened last minute. I put GH in a very difficult position and for that I am incredibly sorry. GH took whatever steps they needed to proceed without me... And just wait til you see who they found... The perfect choice. I for one can't wait to watch."
Berris has reportedly taped several episodes as Spinelli. It's unclear at this time when Anderson will return to the role.
