If you haven't yet watched the finale of The Masked Singer, this article contains spoilers that you might not want to read.
Congratulations goes out to The Bold and the Beautiful alum Wayne Brady (Reese Buckingham). The multi-talented singer was crowned the second season champ on the hit FOX singing competition The Masked Singer.
Throughout the series, Brady both stunned the judges with his singing and stumped them with his true identity. You see, Brady performed while dressed up as a fox.
In the finals, "The Fox" Brady placed ahead of "The Rottweiler," Grammy-nominated American Idol alum Chris Daughtry, and "The Flamingo," talk-show host and former Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon.
Brady was emotional in his victory, saying that his vulpine masquerade allowed him to sing without being prejudged as a comedian or actor.
"I didn't know... how much winning this would mean," Brady said while still disguised. "This is... this is all I've done my whole life and I've been able to be blessed enough to make a lot of people happy, but I haven't always been happy myself. It's taken me all this time to find my joy again wearing a mask and having no perceived notions from anyone about what i can do."
Throughout the competition, celebrity judges Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger were stumped by The Fox's true identity. Guesses ranged from Oscar winner Jamie Foxx to Hamilton Tony winner Leslie Odom, Jr. In the end, though, Scherzinger and Thicke were able to, um, outfox the eventual winner by figuring out his identity.
Brady turned out impressive vocals on songs that included "This Christmas," Maroon 5's "This Love," Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative" and, in the finale, Otis Redding's "Try A Little Tenderness." The five-time Emmy winner just released a video for a new single called "Flirtin' With Forever," the first single from a new album due out in January. You can check out the video at the end of this article.
The Masked Singer is an adaptation of a Korean series. The identities of the masked singers are known to only a few people -- and even the contestants do not know who they are competing against. Week by week, eliminated singers have to take off their masks and reveal their true identities.
Other contestants in the second season of the competition included The View alums Raven-Symoné and Sherri Shepherd, Paul Shaffer, Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams, and iconic singers Seal and Patti LaBelle.
The Masked Singer will return for a third season on FOX in the coveted post-Super Bowl slot in February.
