From screen to print, The Bold and the Beautiful collaborates with Pan Macmillan to give fan fiction a whole new meaning. The anticipated eight-book romance series places B&B characters in alternative stories that have yet to be attempted on-screen.
The series is a part of the digital-first imprint Momentum, and each story pairs unlikely characters in spectacular situations. Fans longing for a Steffy Forrester and Bill Spencer reunion or wondering about a Bill Spencer and Taylor Hayes connection might be intrigued by the novellas.
In book one, Forbidden Affair, Steffy and Bill's passions reignite when the two are trapped together beneath the rubble of a Los Angeles earthquake. Collision Course, book two, sends Taylor on a psychological journey with Bill Spencer, who's hiding severe posttraumatic stress disorder that he developed upon surviving a plane crash.
The Sydney Morning Harold relays that it could be the first time a soap opera has transitioned to a romance series. The collaborators hope for a large transitioning market to go with it, and it just might happen as long as the stories are true to the show's past without confusing the show's present and future.
According to CBS, Brad Bell stated that the Bold and Beautiful partnered with Pan MacMillian to give the fans more storyline choices for the soap's signature characters. "Love stories that have yet to be seen on television can now fully ignite between the covers of these novels," Bell stated on the CBS blog.
Fans can look forward to two more titles in April. Second Chances involves Rick Forrester and Steffy bonding over their suppressed grief about Phoebe's death, and Stormswept showcases a resurgence of the Hope Logan and Oliver Jones romance.
The romance novels will debut as e-books worldwide at a time when B&B approaches its 7,000th episode. In Australia, viewers can also pick up paperback editions beginning January 28, 2014.
