The cast and crew of The Bold and the Beautiful are about to hit the road. The 30-minute CBS soap will be taking a trip "Down Under" to Australia later this month. It will mark the first overseas remote for any soap in several years.
CBS is still closely guarding the details of the Aussie adventure; Soap Central has learned that the actors headed to the week-long remote include Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan), Ronn Moss (Ridge Forrester), Kyle Lowder (Rick Forrester), and Mackenzie Mauzy (Phoebe Forrester).
"The scenes will be very romantic, enhanced by the immense beauty of Sydney Harbor," executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell said in a statement.
The trip to Australia will be a bit of a trek into foreign territory for the show. B&B's remotes typically take it to Italy, which keeps the show in line with its fashion roots. This will also mark the first remote trip in several years; The Bold and the Beautiful traveled to Portofino, Italy in 2002.
Remote shoots are almost a thing of the past for soaps as shrinking budgets make the expensive trips more and more impossible. The last soap to film outside the country was ABC's All My Children when, in 2003, several of its cast members filmed a week of episodes in the Bahamas.
The Bold and the Beautiful's Australian excursion will run from February 24 through March 2. Those episodes will air the week of March 23 -- which, incidentally, will mark the 20th anniversary of the CBS soap. The Bold and the Beautiful debuted on March 23, 1987.
