All My Children fans may find themselves happy as pigs in mud about the upcoming Hallmark film You're Bacon Me Crazy!, as the rom-com is set to star Natalie Hall (ex-Colby Chandler) in the leading role.
Based on the YA novel of the same name by Suzanne Nelson, the film will center around a young woman's romantic adventures while she works at her aunt's food truck. IMDb gives the tease that main character Cleo (Hall) tries to win a food truck competition while the competition tries to win her heart, but there's more to the story than that if the film plans to follow the book from which it pulled its inspiration.
Nelson's You're Bacon Me Crazy! centers around Tessa, who loves working at the trendy food truck her aunt runs in their native San Francisco. "Whipping up creative treats, serving yummy BLTs to her classmates after school... Tessa feels like she's living the dream," reads the book's description. "Then the dream turns into a nightmare. Popular, arrogant Asher starts working at the truck! He can't make a sandwich to save his life, and on top of it all, he's frustratingly cute. But when the city's big food truck festival is cancelled, the future of the truck is suddenly at stake. Tessa and Asher will have to set aside their differences and work together to save the truck. With the help of her friends, some cooking tricks, and her secret weapon -- bacon! -- can Tessa turn things around? And will she finally admit to herself how she really feels... about Asher?"
Time will tell how closely the Hallmark adaptation of You're Bacon Me Crazy! will follow the book it's named after, but one thing is clear: the film has a stellar cast. In addition to Hall, the rom-com will star Jane the Virgin and Timeless alum Michael Rady, Another World alum Barbara Tyson (ex-Dawn Rollo), and Home and Away actress Rhiannon Fish, among others.
Hallmark hasn't released the premiere details for You're Bacon Me Crazy!, but the book's author is super excited to see her novel come to life.
"While everything is still very early in the process, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someday soon we may be able to watch a movie version of the book," Nelson shares on her official website. "I love Hallmark movies and am so excited that my lil' book might end up appearing on one of my all-time favorite channels! I'll post updates about the possible film as I receive them. In the meantime, I hope you'll read or revisit the book!"
Natalie Hall joined the cast of AMC in 2009 and played the role of Colby Chandler until 2011. Her post-daytime credits include Pretty Little Liars, Drop Dead Diva, UnREAL, and Charmed.
Barbara Tyson (formerly Barbara Bush) played the role of AW's Dawn from 1987 to 1988, when the character became the first on a soap opera to contract HIV and die of AIDS. The actress' additional credits include Alien Nation, Neon Rider, Two, The Outer Limits, and Peacemakers.
UPDATE (March 9, 2020): Great news, Natalie Hall fans! Hallmark has announced that You're Bacon Me Crazy will premiere on Saturday, April 4. But you won't have to wait that long to get a taste of the feel-good film on your screens. Guiding Light alum Bethany Joy Lenz (ex-Michelle Bauer) will be co-hosting a Hallmark Spring Fever Preview Special on Saturday, March 21, that will include highlights from the rom-com that also stars Michael Rady.
