Lifetime is playing Santa Claus and bringing soap opera fans yet another holiday gift: a heartwarming movie titled Christmas Harmony that stars several actors familiar to daytime audiences.
All My Children alum Adam Mayfield (ex-Scott Chandler) plays a lead opposite Kelley Jakle, who stars as a young woman who returns to her small hometown to rediscover music, family bonds, and the magic of the Christmas season.
Other soap opera alums who appear in the holiday film include Peter Porte (ex-Ricky Williams, The Young and the Restless), Sally Struthers (ex-Jennifer Smith, General Hospital), and Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson (ex-Dr. Francine Massey, GH).
"This movie is very special," wrote Mayfield on his Instagram account. "Made with a lot of love and great people! Can't wait for y'all to see it."
The actor also spoke a little about his character during the film's premiere earlier this month.
"Luke's a guy's guy. He sings like a guy's guy. And he's got his heart broken like a guy's guy, more than once in his life, in more ways than one," he jokes, before adding: "He has experienced a lot of loss, and from Luke's point of view, the movie tells the story about that loss turning into hope for him, and then that hope turning into joy."
Enthuses Struthers: "I've always wanted to be in a Christmas movie -- always! And it's a Christmas movie with music, and that's even 40 times better!"
Christmas Harmony is set to premiere on Saturday, November 24, at 10PM on Lifetime.
And for fans who are interested in seeing more from Mayfield, he says you can check him out in the "eclectic" Netflix series The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell.
"Think Wes Anderson, Martha Stewart, and Tim Burton with Muppets," he jokes. "It's awesome."
