All My Children fans have not yet seen the last of Zach and Kendall. In a surprise turn of events, Emmy noms Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart) and Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater) are headed to Los Angeles to film addition AMC scenes.
Last September, ABC confirmed that Kaye would not be continuing on with All My Children once the show relocated to Los Angeles. The actor told the New York Daily News, "I am not the kind of dad who wants to be 3,000 miles away from my kids." The actor and his long-time partner, Susan Haskell, who appears on One Life to Live, reside together in New York.
Minshew, meanwhile, was listed as a cast member who would remain with the show after its westward move, though it was unclear exactly how long she'd be sticking around. Minshew, who in November welcomed a baby girl, had expressed her concerns about being away from her child and husband to work in Los Angeles -- even as a commuter.
Last week, published reports stated that Minshew would film the remainder of her contractually obligated scenes for All My Children in New York. Now, though, Soap Opera Digest reports that Minshew struck a deal with All My Children's executive producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers, what will have her flying to California. Digest reports that Carruthers offered to also fly Minshew's husband and baby to California in order to accommodate her appearances on the show.
Kaye then surprised everyone by saying that he would also agree to fly to Los Angeles to film some scenes.
Both actors last appeared on the show's 40th anniversary special, which aired on January 5, 2010.
Minshew will first air on April 9. Kaye pops up a few days later on April 13. It is unclear how long the two actors will appear on-screen. Also unknown is whether or not Minshew or Kaye have changed their minds about continuing to make appearances on All My Children.
